Twenty Runners Out Race Santa in Friday Night Five

Twenty runners got together at various times of the day on Christmas Eve for the Friday night 5 mile run. Courtney Bird ran with the women in the early afternoon group, as 7 women and Courtney took advantage of the day off from work and ran the course in daylight for a change.

It was more of a social run for many, as some of the runners ran together and enjoyed the cool clear night. Jeff List may have had the fastest time, but that isn't really certain as Dave Whitney and Bob Crowley neglected to sign in.

Since it was Christmas Eve, all of the post-race gathering spots and watering holes were closed for the holidays. Undaunted, the runners simply braved the cold 24 degree night and gathered under the stars in Town Hall Square to exchange Christmas greetings and other pleasantries.

The Friday night 5 mile runs are held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no fee for this self-timed event, and all runners are invited to participate. Reflector vests are required through the winter.
