Tonight we donned our throwback jerseys, fired
up the time machine, and were whisked back to an era when mobile telephones
without buttons were hot and video games that required fat kids to get up off
the couch and move their asses to play the game were all the rage. The year was
2007 and it was a cold, dark January when the An Cu Liath City Run was born. So
for some reason September of 2009 seemed like a good time to celebrate this
anniversary with a run around the original route.
Well folks, good news and bad news. First the
bad news. Running up Harrison St still sucks as does the neighborhood at
the top of the hill. The good news, there was only one misdemeanor assault and
nobody took a shiv to the spleen and thus the throwback run was deemed a
success. Most seemed to like the change yet none seemed to want to do it again.
Next week we'll be back to the old? new? ah, current route. 3 Miles of
pretty much dead flat, except for the parts that aren't.
Due to licensing and board of health regulations
that may or may not have been violated I can't mention what we ate post
race. If you were there you know it was good. If you weren't don't bother asking
'cause everyone that was there pinky swore that nobody would
What I can mention is this weeks birthday cake
recipient. Our own "Big" Steve O'Neil turned 39, allegedly. I question the
accuracy of that because if any of you have seen ole Stevie you know he has a
sweet sweet baby face! Next time you see him be sure to pinch his
