Coffee-O-Five

Falmouth, MA, December 26, 2003

Large Fast Field at Last Coffee O of 2003

by by FTC

The rare noon starting time of this weekıs Day After Christmas Coffee O Five brought out over 40 runners and walkers. It was the largest field since the good weather of early October. Five overly dedicated runners even came back at night to run the course again at its normal time of 5:30. Anne Preisig and Margaret Bradley took first and second for the women. Both finished in the top five over-all. Ms. Bradley is actually the fastest Falmouth marathon runner of 2003, as she recorded a fine sub three-hour effort in her marathon debut at Chicago this October. Wendy Stafford edged Kris Tholke as the third woman and Eileen Miskell took fifth. Kevin Gray was first over-all as he clipped along at 5:30 minute per mile pace. Pete Sampson bested Dana Miskell by just 30 seconds for third. Harrison Farnsworth, who runs high school cross-country in Concord, cracked the top five for the men in his Coffee O Five debut. Mr. Farnsworth, who had to ask directions back to Town Hall Square, finished in just under 35 minutes. For Lucky Gray of Walpole, it just wasnıt his lucky day, as he missed his goal of 40 minutes by just a scant 13 seconds. The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee and reflective running gear is required through the winter. All are invited to usher in the New Year with the first Coffee O Five of 2004 on Friday, January 2 nd at 5:30 pm.
