Coors Light announced today that it will be a proud sponsor of the ING New York City Marathon on November 6. To celebrate this premiere sporting event, the city of New York will be treated to a variety of Coors Light promotions at more than 400 bars and restaurants along the marathon route during the week leading up to the race and on marathon Sunday. In addition, Coors Light will unveil commemorative "New York City Marathon" Coors Light cans, tap knobs, pennants and mirrors. The cans will be available October 1 in retail locations in New York City and the tap knobs, pennants and mirrors will be featured at participating bars.

"Coors Light goes where its consumers are -- to football, stock car racing, basketball, baseball, surfing, running and other action-packed venues -- and this sponsorship allows us to recognize and support the running community's accomplishments," said Steve Medina, field marketing director for Coors Brewing Company. "After running 26.2 miles, marathoners deserve positive recognition and we look forward to toasting their remarkable achievement at the finish line."

The New York City Marathon, hosted by the New York Road Runners, has set standards with recent annual records of 85,000 applicants, 36,000 finishers, 2 million spectators and 260 million viewers worldwide. What started in 1970 with 127 runners, who each paid $1 to participate, is now the largest one-day live sporting event and one of most visible marathons in the world.
